Adrienne's Must-Have Gift Guide

| December 10, 2019

It’s the holiday season!

If you’re like me, you spent most of Black Friday telling yourself, “Oh, this is a great Christmas gift to me, for me, and from me!”.  I blindly spent money on clothes and accessories for yours truly, pausing only once or twice to think, “That would be a great gift for my roommate, or brother…”.  This left me in a panic on Cyber Monday to buy items for friends and family that were 50%-60% off that I didn’t really know if anyone needed or wanted.

Enter this list.  If you were panic-buying like me, don’t fear.  I’m sure they’ll love that random houseware item you got them that might get used once a year.  However, if you’re still looking for a gift for your friend or family member in their 20’s, I have the perfect gift list for you!  Whether it's for your pet-sitter, lawncare man, or grandkids, this list is sure to please.

*I must make the disclosure now: this list is partial to ladies but still has gifts all can enjoy.

  • For the Home-Body:
    • XL Coffee Mugs- Trust me, everyone needs a set of XL mugs. Most people drink coffee or tea nowadays, but these mugs are great for ice cream, oatmeal, and soup.
    • Furry Throw- Who doesn’t love a good throw? You can find these at any home store.  My choice: Home Goods.  You’ll probably end up buying more than one item there…
    • Anthropology Candle- Y’all, I swear by these candles. The scent is strong enough to make your room and adjacent ones smell great.  It is not overpowering and won’t cause headaches. P.S. You can find these on Amazon and Nordstrom Rack.
    • New Pair of Slippers- You read that right, 20-year old’s wear slippers!  But think luxury slippers – not the pale pink kind your great-grandmother wore.
      • Feet, meet your new fav pair of shoes: Slippers

  • For the Young Professional
    • A Lunchbox- Gone are the days on plastic and paper bags! We are doing are part to save the environment while looking trendy.  Great design for guys and gals.
    • Amazon Prime Subscription- If you have an account, you know how handy they are. Plus, it doubles as a streaming service!  What more could you want?
    • Belt- Very trendy and always professional, belts are an essential for menswear and a fashion piece for ladies. You can never go wrong with a new belt.
    • Over-sized Bag/Tote- Great for all! Use when you’re traveling with a laptop, chargers, papers, and notebooks.

    • For the Techies
      • Google Nest Mini - Let me say this: I do not trust Alexa; however, I trust Google. Don’t ask me why, we all have our opinions on smart speakers.  I got a Mini and it has been super easy to use and very helpful.
      • Google Chromecast- If you buy the Nest, you almost must get this with it. It allows you to stream from your phone to your TV (think firestick).  This device will work without the Nest, so if you don’t want the smart speaker, get this item.
      • Smart Light Bulbs - This gift will work if you have a smart speaker in the home and if you don’t. Just control the lights with your voice or compatible app.  The future is here people!
      • Bluetooth Speaker- Must have!! If this person doesn’t already have one, you will be their lifesaver!  They’re waterproof and can totally liven up any hangout or gathering. I can’t tell you how much I use mine.  It goes on all trips and has a great battery!
        • Listen to the music: Here

    • For ALL People
      • Wood Cutting Board- We are in the age of charcuterie boards, and it is essential that all 20-somethings have a wood cutting board. In fact, maybe buy one for yourself too.
      • Matching Tupperware set- Not so much a fun gift, but extremely practical. I never realized the value of matching Tupperware until I moved out of my parent’s house.  The gift that keeps on giving.
        • Make your momma proud: Here
      • Instant pot or Crockpot- Again, not so much a fun gift but so practical. Guys especially can get a lot of use from the Instant Pot.  They’re easy to use and there are endless recipes to use with them.
        • Buy the Instant Pot: Here
        • Buy the Crockpot: Here

Did you make it through the list?  Did something catch your eye?  Another disclaimer: a lot of these items can be found on Amazon (if that’s your speed) or at your local Target and Home Goods.  I hope this helps solve your gift-giving problem.  Let me know what you think!

Even in the hustle and bustle, let’s not lose sight of the reason for the season.  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy your time with friends and family!
